Forza Petroleum holds a 65% working interest in the Hawler license in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The license is operated by its subsidiary OP Hawler Kurdistan Limited, and is governed by a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with favourable fiscal terms.
The Hawler Area License is a high-potential oil asset located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, within the foothills fold-and-thrust zone of the Zagros Mountain Belt—one of the world’s most prolific hydrocarbon provinces.
The block covers approximately 790 km², making it one of the largest in the region, and is supported by a strong subsurface database, including 50 wells, over 470 km² of high-quality 3D seismic (PSDM), and more than 1,700 km of 2D seismic.
Production commenced in May 2014, with cumulative output reaching over 33 MMBbls by April 2026.
The license lies within a unique geological setting, with proven hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs ranging from Tertiary to Triassic age. Forza’s three producing fields—Demir Dagh, Banan and Zey Gawra—produce from six reservoirs, providing operational flexibilty.
The asset offers significant development upside, including over 500 MMBbls STOIIP of medium API oil in Cretaceous reservoirs. Additional potential includes heavy oil in Upper Jurassic formations and light oil in Lower Jurassic and Triassic horizons. Recent 3D seismic interpretation has identified multiple compartments and fault blocks, supporting approximately 40 development and exploration opportunities across four structures.
